Art of the Ask

If you don’t ask, you’ll never know,
Doors stay closed where you don’t go.
Speak your needs, be clear, be true,
The world responds when you push through.

Requests are bridges, built with care,
Linking needs to what we dare.
In work, in love, in daily life,
Clear requests prevent the strife.

Some may plead, some softly say,
"Would you mind?" in a gentle way.
Others stand with firm demand,
Drawing lines to take a stand.

An invite asks with open grace,
While orders set a firmer pace.
And even "no" sometimes implies,
A door ajar, a chance to try.

If you don’t ask, you’ll never know,
Doors stay closed where you don’t go.
Speak your needs, be clear, be true,
The world responds when you push through.

Softened words can ease the weight,
Turning doubt to an open gate.
"Would it trouble you at all?"
Gives a choice, yet stands up tall.

Tone and timing shape the way,
A harsh demand can chase away.
But kindness wrapped in what you seek,
Invites respect—both firm and meek.

In work, in love, in all we do,
Requests can shape what will come through.
So ask with heart, be bold, be wise,
And watch as doors swing open wide.

If you don’t ask, you’ll never know,
Doors stay closed where you don’t go.
Speak your needs, be clear, be true,
The world responds when you push through.
