Cynic's Dictionary (Part 2)

Oh, the world’s a stage of grand deceit,

Where wisdom’s lost and fools compete.

Laugh along or shake your head,

The truth is twisted, warped, and spread.

The jerk’s a mirror, plain to see,

Reflecting all you fail to be.

And marriage? Ah, a binding vow

That few would sign if known till now.

Maybe’s hope, a flimsy screen,

For dodging acts and staying keen.

“I’ll start tomorrow!”—Oh, what grace

To keep postponing fate’s embrace.

Safety’s sought, yet risk we chase

A paradox we can’t erase.

Selfish deeds? We all partake

Yet curse the ones who dare to take.

Virtue shines in public’s view,

A mask for pride in noble hue.

And why? The question sly and keen

Unmasks our motives unforeseen.

Men and women, foes yet paired

Each to other’s depths ensnared.

A simple man, a complex dame,

Forever locked in passion’s game.

Oh, the world’s a stage of grand deceit,

Where wisdom’s lost and fools compete.

Laugh along or shake your head,

The truth is twisted, warped, and spread.
