Keeper of the Moment: Now

 

Within us all, a voice takes reign,
To seek relief, avoid the strain.
It cradles now, this fleeting time,
Where ease and joy are most sublime.

The Now stands guard, it swiftly moves,
To smooth the path that life behooves.
It seeks no more than present cheer,
To calm the heart and quell the fear.

It takes the thought, the fleeting spark,
And runs with it through light and dark.
Its mission clear, its aim precise:
A moment free from pain’s device.

Yet while the Now ensures our care,
Its scope is brief, its view is rare.
For just beyond its tender sight,
The Next awaits with broader light.

So cherish Now, this gentle guide,
But know its place, and walk beside.
For in its care, we find the art,
To soothe the Now and still be smart.
