Singing and dancing

in the square

and alley exploring

Welcome to VooV with Heidi

I am using a Zoom-like app with Heidi. She can see my computer screen and see me at the same time. If she had a camera set up, I would be able to see her too.

So far I like this app very much. Very intuitive and easy to use. It has many features I haven't explored yet.

Skinny rolls of toilet paper

Either for money-saving or conservation purposes hotels in China usually provide guests with one roll of skinny toilet paper per day. I asked the housekeeping lady to provide me with two. She was obliging.

I carry my own package of wet wipes as a backup.

Stuffies >>>

Another type of street vendor in Old Town Jianshui is the stuffed-animal vendor. Kids often convenience their parents to buy one of these.

Becoming more wary >>>

In general, younger kids are more open to other people and new things than are older kids and adults.

Here, in this unposed photo, the girl on the left appears more open and curious than is the older girl on the right. This principle could be applied in this case.

Not as popular as cards >>>

I sometimes see men (I don't remember any women players) playing this checkers-type game on the sidewalks.

Are the onlookers rooting for someone? >>>

With card games, I often see several non-players watching the action (but only in the men groups). I wonder if they're rooting for anyone in particular?

^^^ Stinky tofu, fresh roasted

Stinky tofu is another signature delicacy in Jianshui. People often gather around the roasting lady who sometimes roasts some other foods alongside, like potatoes.

Gambling for money >>>

Gambling for money is often included in these friendly games. It's obviously included in this game.

People losing money gambling seems a bigger issue in China than the USA.

Fortunetelling? >>>

My best guess is this man is providing a type of fortunetelling as a service. Or maybe he's trying to sell something else.

A very friendly water-pipe smoker >>>

Right at 68% of all men in China smoke. China accounts for 51.4% of all the male smokers in the world.

I notice many e-cigarette shops in China. I don't know how that compares to other countries.

The photos below were taken on my way (mostly from the taxi) to my special buffet restaurant.
