Spell Of Good And Bad
We cling to what feels safe and sure,
A world where “good” feels strong and pure.
But “right and wrong” can be unwise—
And truth’s obscured beneath our lies.
We point to wrong, the sin, the crime,
Believe we’re right so many times.
Yet every choice, both bold and small,
Has gains and losses, one and all.
Good and bad, we chant the spell,
Hoping it will shield us well.
But real life asks a deeper view—
What does it cost? And cost to who?
The parent who “knows” what’s best to do
May snuff a light that they should rue.
The loyal spouse who stays too long
And tolerates to not feel wrong.
The soldier fights for what is “right”
And never sleeps through quiet nights.
And even love, if trapped in form,
Can turn from warm to social norm.
We forget to ask, forget to see
What serves the soul’s vitality.
We label fast—“That’s bad,” “That’s good”—
And miss what could be understood.
Good and bad, we chant the spell,
Hoping it will shield us well.
But real life asks a deeper view—
What does it cost? And cost to who?
What fuels our joy? What drains it dry?
What lifts us up and teaches why?
To live with heart, we must let go
Of rules that only seem to know.
So speak in terms of what is gained,
Of who is free and who’s restrained.
And let the myth of “right” unroll—
Make space for courage, risk, and soul.
Good and bad, we chant the spell,
But freedom lies in truth we tell.
Step through the fear, let questions grow—
What does it cost? And what might flow?
